CiteScore 2016 is one of eight indicators in the CiteScore™ metrics family, measuring the average number of citations in 2016 from documents published in 2013, 2014 and 2015.CiteScore™ metrics, powered by Scopus, were launched in December 2016 as a comprehensive, transparent, current and free set of metrics that measure journal citation impact over a 3-year period.

SNIP: Source Normalized Impact per Paper measures contextual citation impact by weighting citations based on the total number of citations in a subject field. This means SNIP values can be compared for any two journals, regardless of the field they are in.

SJR: SCImago Journal Rank is a prestige metric based on the idea that ‘all citations are not created equal’. Citations are weighted, depending on the rank of the citing journal.

The Impact Factor* is defined as citations to the journal in the JCR year to items published in the previous two years, divided by the total number of scholarly items, also known as citable items (these comprise articles and reviews), published in the journal in the previous two years.
